C Baby learns to express himself.

Posted on: April 26, 2007

C is 10 months old today! Where does the time go???  In light of that, today it’s all about C Baby. He is  getting so big and he is incredibly smart and VERY funny.

He is cruising the furniture quite well now, though he doesn’t seem ready to make the transition to walking just yet, which is fine with me. He’ll eat anything you throw at him…avocadoes, peas, carrots, bread, chicken, meat, literally ANYTHING we can make small enough, he’ll eat. (I guess I needed one that eats since the other one survives on oatmeal, chicken nuggets, french fries, and milk.) He’s still the Toothless Wonder, though I suspect he’ll soon lose that title. I see some gum bulging and he’s cranky more often these days. He crawls at the speed of light. He can get from one end of the house to the other in about 1 minute flat. This is no easy task as *I* can’t usually make it from one end of the house to the other that quickly. He’s into everything. Opens drawers, cabinets, boxes, etc and throws everything out on the floor. Somewhere my mother is laughing about that one…I’m told I used to do the same thing.

He’s also communicating with us via sign language! J learned to talk so late and got very frustrated when he couldn’t express his needs/wants to us. Led to a lot of tantrums on his part and a lot of headaches on the part of D and I. So I decided to try baby signs with C. I am amazed at how quickly he has picked them up! He can do “all done” (throwing hands up in the air) and “milk” (squeezing hand, like milking a cow) and I am SO amazed at how easy this is! If you want to try this for your baby, you can find many signs here. Just click on the “ASL for Babies” link. We’re working on a few more, but he picked both of these up very quickly. It’s so funny to see him start getting fussy and then throw his hands up in the air to tell us he’s “all done” with whatever he’s doing! It really helps us understand what’s going through his mind. He has also just started waving and I swear he says Hi when he sees people. There are some videos I’d love to get that offer more signs but we just can’t afford them right now. I’ll have to stick with the website linked above for the time being!

He is silly…he does things just to see us laugh. He does his best to irritate his big brother. Luckily J is pretty chill about it all and tries to keep his cool with him. He will turn off the computer (no joke!) if he thinks I’ve been sitting here too long. He crawls over to his daddy as soon as he gets home from work and pulls himself on D’s pant leg so he’ll get picked up. He’s just a sweet little guy who shows us how much he loves us every day. We all really enjoy him and feel very lucky that he’s joined our family.

D is the dad, the husband, and the breadwinner. All around nice guy and good at pretty much everything he does. It's disgusting, really. But makes him worth keeping around.

M is the mom, the wife, and the hopeless housekeeper. At least the kids' heads haven't fallen off yet. Beyond that, she sucks at the "stay at home" thing. Oh, and she's the blogger.

J is the big boy. Born October 11 2002, he is in kindergarten and loves it. Now 6 years old, and too smart for his own good. Talks a lot but extremely entertaining.

C is the little boy. Born June 26, 2006, he went through a lot in his first year but is doing just fine now. The only blond in the family, so his paternity is routinely questioned by rude strangers.

V is our baby girl. She is brand new and arrived in January 2009. So far everything is going well. We're thrilled to have added the final piece to our family puzzle. And yes, she WILL be the final piece!
