I am starting to come out of my 1st trimester fog, and I’m really feeling a lot better. (Praise God! I was so worried it wasn’t going to go away!) Over to the right there is a ticker for the pregnancy progress. You may need to scroll down a bit, but if you’re ever wondering where we are, that will give you a good idea. My official due date is January 24, and the baby will likely be born by (scheduled) c-section sometime between Jan. 20 and Jan. 26, which happens to be my mom’s birthday. I’m holding out hope they’ll let me go a couple of days overdue so this little one can arrive on her birthday!

I am working on the first day of school pictures and will get them posted shortly, and I’m also going to post a list of our top 5 names. I’m not really looking for feedback on any of them, but if you feel compelled to say that you love one or two of them, those comments are appreciated! 😉

I’ll post those below this post, so you’ll need to scroll down a bit to see them. They will be password protected with our last name, so if you can’t remember what it is or how to spell it, get in touch with me via email or phone or whatever!

Yes, that’s right. J is currently at school, for his first full day of kindergarten. He had a short day last Wednesday and then was off Thursday and Friday since they do a “staggered start” for the kindergarteners. I do have pictures, but they are still in the camera. I’ll try to get them downloaded to the computer, edited and then uploaded later today!

We were very pleased that 2 of his pre-school friends who he’s spent the last 2 years with were in his class. So he already has some friends. That always helps the transition!

And since I inevitably get asked, he’s going to a year round school. It’s the only school of choice in our county and it’s by far the best elementary school. We were very lucky that he got in via the lottery process because there were a lot of kids who ended up on the waiting list. Luckily he got in on the first round, because I had mega-anxiety about it! The school we would have been assigned to was fine, but he’s the kind of kid who thrives on consistency…and the year round school provides that for us and for him!

Today I had my nuchal translucency scan to check for abnormalities and everything looked great which has been a load off my mind! If you are unsure of what you’re looking at here, let me try to explain…
Cletus the Fetus
The black space in the center is the amniotic fluid. Inside it is the baby. The roundish thing on the left side is the head. To the right, the oval-ish thing is the baby’s body. You can barely see the arm buds on either side of the body. Actually, they are probably more than buds at this stage…but I can’t remember, so I’m not sure. Regardless, those little dots on either side are what will be arms.

I also received a gender prediction (from the midwife, based on my symptoms, not from anything the ultrasound tech saw!) so we’ll see how that plays out. She kind of reinforced what I’ve been thinking, though. Probably about 6-8 more weeks before we know so I’ll keep that info a secret for now. I will say that this pregnancy has been very different for me, so read into that what you will! 😉 I’m trying not to get my hopes up for anything either way…

If anyone is curious about what is going on developmentally right now, this is a great site for info.

Everything looks great, so we couldn’t be happier right now. Keep the prayers and good thoughts coming, though!

W Family Players

D is the dad, the husband, and the breadwinner. All around nice guy and good at pretty much everything he does. It's disgusting, really. But makes him worth keeping around.

M is the mom, the wife, and the hopeless housekeeper. At least the kids' heads haven't fallen off yet. Beyond that, she sucks at the "stay at home" thing. Oh, and she's the blogger.

J is the big boy. Born October 11 2002, he is in kindergarten and loves it. Now 6 years old, and too smart for his own good. Talks a lot but extremely entertaining.

C is the little boy. Born June 26, 2006, he went through a lot in his first year but is doing just fine now. The only blond in the family, so his paternity is routinely questioned by rude strangers.

V is our baby girl. She is brand new and arrived in January 2009. So far everything is going well. We're thrilled to have added the final piece to our family puzzle. And yes, she WILL be the final piece!
