The W Family Chronicles

I’m super bored, so I thought I’d start a guessing pool for the baby! If you’re just dying to throw your guesses out there, click on the banner below and go for it!

The winner will get…my highest esteem? Bragging rights? The chance to babysit if the baby is colicy and I need a night off? Diaper changing duties for the first week? I don’t know, but something fabulous for sure!

Today was preschool Sunday at the church where J goes to preschool.  His class sang 3 songs and he did such a great job!  Sadly, no pics or video.  I hate to post something like that with other people’s children without permission, so you’ll just have to take my word for it.  I have other thoughts about the whole thing, but I’m going to leave the opinion stuff in my new blog from now on…this one will be just for W family news so you can safely hear about us without hearing my opinion on everything from politics to parenting. 😉

We took our first trip of the season to the ice cream store downtown and throughly enjoyed it last night.  J had a chocolate ice cream cone, which ended up all over him and his clothes…not to mention the picnic table we ate at in the park.  Wish I had pictures, but I didn’t take my camera.  I loved saying “I told you so!” to D…he insisted on bathing J before we went and I said I thought it was a bad idea.  I was right, because he had to have another bath when we got home!  The mama is *always* right.

Maybe you’ve heard of SparkPeople…it’s an online weight loss/health community.  I finally signed up there yesterday and I’m making an effort (once again!) to change my eating habits and try to move more and lose some weight.  It is something I’ve struggled with since puberty.  I have polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and one of the ways it manifests is in insulin resistance, which can cause obesity.  PCOS can also cause infertility, excess hair growth, acne, and a whole host of other things.  It’s a really difficult disease, because it can affect so much of what makes us feel like a woman.

I’m really impressed with the site.  There seems to be a lot of support, and best of all, it’s FREE!  I loved Weight Watchers Points program, but the monthly fee ($12.95, IIRC) is just not in the budget right now.  SparkPeople seems to have a lot of the features WW did, but without the expense.  I lost a lot of weight last time I did WW, so I’m hoping that SP motivates me to do the same.  I don’t have 100 pounds to lose, but I’m not far off.  If you’re on there, My username is my first name and the state I grew up in.  I’m a bit overwhelmed with all the site has to offer right now, but it looks like a great place to hang out!

I’ve been looking for a way to make some extra money from home. After a little research, it seems like CafePress is a pretty simple way to do it! So I started a store today. I’m not done creating new items, but it’s a start. Check it out. And maybe buy something? 😛

C is *way* into kissing now.  He kisses everyone and everything constantly.  He kisses his bubba (big brother) while he’s asleep, kisses his toys, kisses his mommy and daddy…SO adorable!  And the little kissy noise he makes when he’s trying to get you to kiss him back is too much.  Cutest baby *ever* and he just keeps getting cuter.

If you know us well, you know  about J’s “Ernie.”  It’s a blue stuffed elephant he’s had since infancy.  He actually has 4 of them, but one holds a special place in his heart as “Dirty Ernie.”  It’s the oldest and really shows it’s wear.  He likes to “scratch” it when he’s trying to sleep or just relaxing.  Last week he walked up to D and said “Would you like to scratch my Dirty Ernie?”  Yeah, let’s not even discuss where our minds went.  It was hilarious.

J also told my mom that she was nice, unlike his mommy and daddy who are mean, mean, mean.  Hah!  She was mean to me when I was his age, I’m quite sure of it.

I passed 2 more very large fragments while we were in Tennessee for the holidays.  One was 5 mm and the other was 7 mm.  Yeah, it was an unpleasant trip.

I’ve become addicted to Facebook.  If you want to add me and happen to know my first and last (either married or maiden) names, look me up.   I am having all kinds of fun with it!

Someone emailed me to ask where we stayed and I thought I’d share…It was the Blues Breakers Unit at Serenity Point in Topsail Beach, NC. Pictures and description here!

If that link doesn’t work, go to Century 21 for Topsail, scroll down to where it says Serenity Point Townhomes under Resorts/Condos/Town Homes and choose “Search All.” They have it listed as Blues Breakers AKA Geneva.

Looked just like the photos…a really lovely place to stay!

Because I don’t have enough blogs to keep up with…

Thru My Lens

W Family Players

D is the dad, the husband, and the breadwinner. All around nice guy and good at pretty much everything he does. It's disgusting, really. But makes him worth keeping around.

M is the mom, the wife, and the hopeless housekeeper. At least the kids' heads haven't fallen off yet. Beyond that, she sucks at the "stay at home" thing. Oh, and she's the blogger.

J is the big boy. Born October 11 2002, he is in kindergarten and loves it. Now 6 years old, and too smart for his own good. Talks a lot but extremely entertaining.

C is the little boy. Born June 26, 2006, he went through a lot in his first year but is doing just fine now. The only blond in the family, so his paternity is routinely questioned by rude strangers.

V is our baby girl. She is brand new and arrived in January 2009. So far everything is going well. We're thrilled to have added the final piece to our family puzzle. And yes, she WILL be the final piece!
